about

‘Fantasy Girl’ is a pop rock story which describes a relationship with an amazing woman with many desirable attributes, such that the author cannot believe his luck. The lyrics describe the woman as “too good to be true” which leads us to wonder if she is real or maybe just a figment of the author’s imagination. Considering what constitutes a ‘Fantasy Girl’, I suspect that everyone’s answer will be as varied as each other.

Amazing Radio says: "Musically, ‘Fantasy Girl' is classic guitar rock with a rock solid beat and a very catchy, sing along chorus. Musical influences for this song include Chris Rea, Bruce Springsteen, Blink 182, Feeder, Primal Scream, Nickelback, REM, Roxette, Bob Seger, Semisonic, Weezer”. I’m very happy with this description since these are some of my favourite artists so it’s inevitable that some influence will rub off, although I do like a wide range of musical tastes.

The song ‘Fantasy Girl' originally came out as an album track on my independent first album, ‘Selfie’, and has been so successful with radio stations that in 2019 I decided to give it a remix and shoot a video to accompany it. I am very pleased with the remix which sounds much more punchy with all new drums and bass tracks.

Fantasy Girl - remix 2019 © Graham Bodenham

She was like a star as she came into the bar
She ordered up a beer then saw me standing here
We talked a little while until I made her smile
I looked her in the eyes and then I realised

She’s too good to be true, but don’t you believe it
She’s my fantasy girl
She’s the cutest around and that’s how I found her
She’s my fantasy girl
She’s so strong she’s so smart, she captured my heart
She’s my fantasy girl
She’s out of my league but she’s in love with me
She’s my fantasy girl

We went to see a band, she let me hold her hand
It’s never going to end, she even likes my friends
Walking in the park until it got dark
Before I got her home she’d given me her phone

She’s happy when I’m there because she really cares
She always wants to kiss and she’s really good at it
She sets me on fire with burning desire
She’s got beauty, she’s got Zen, she’s off the scale of ten
