First Love © Graham Bodenham 2012

Verse 1: They were sweethearts in the classroom
Fooling round and having fun
Till that summer when she left him
Still don’t know what he did wrong

Verse 2: He moved out, went to the city
He got a job and made a go
On lonely nights he often wondered
About that girl he used to know

Chorus: First love might last forever
Or maybe just for the holiday
He wonders if he’ll ever find love
Like the girl who went away

Verse 3: Then there came the invitation
To the school reunion
But where’s the girl, the one he’s searching
No-one knows, she didn’t come

Verse 4: He goes round to her family home
Sees the funeral taking place
There’s a young man half his age
And he’s got quite a familiar face
